My story
I remember having a conversation with someone when I was about 17. I was talking about how I could never imagine myself working in an office, that’s probably why the 5 years I spent working in banking almost killed me! During that time I went from someone who’d known nothing but sport my entire life, someone who’d medalled at county championship in multiple athletics events, to someone who could barely find the will power to get out of bed in the morning. Someone who ate nothing but junk, piled on huge amounts of weight and had pretty much given up on ever enjoying day to day life. I was a mess! But, and this is the important bit. I came back stronger! I found that bit of motivation to change my life, to get back to where I wanted to be. This happened when a friend invited me to the gym with him, I’d forgotten how much exercise hurt but I’d also forgotten how good it felt when you finish, that endorphin rush, wow! Exercise quickly became a regular part of my life again. As I began to see results on the scales and on my wallet, as I had to keep buying smaller clothes, I committed more and more. I cleaned up my diet, not completely, but enough to really start seeing insane results. This was the big turning point, I’d rediscovered my love of fitness and this was enough to push me to make the changes necessary to fall in love with life again. I researched personal training courses and found I could study through distance learning so I didn’t have to give up work, now I have personal training, group exercise and nutrition qualifications in abundance and I’ll continue to keep pushing myself to learn more until I die. But for me, qualifications mean nothing without what I consider to be the most important tool any personal trainer can have. Empathy, I’ve experienced the lows so I know how hard it can be, but I’ve also experienced the highs, I know how great it feels, I’m doing the job I was born to do and have been for a few years now. If I ask you to do something, no matter how hard it may seem, it’s because I know its within you’re capabilities. Even when you don’t believe in yourself I will believe in you and I will help you drive forward through the most awesome journey of your life! If you don’t believe me, just ask my clients.
